Commonwealth Bank HQ & Darling Quarter Precinct

A 5th Birthday in Spring

The Darling Quarter in Darling Harbour, Sydney is a precinct of 15 retail outlets, two of the Commonwealth Bank Head Office Buildings and a busy children's play arena. Darling Quarter required 2 large displays, one for each lobby and 15 retailer gifts to celebrate the buildings' 5th Birthday. This date falls early September so DQ wanted something which could tie in nicely with welcoming the Spring season.

The majority of the traffic passing through the precinct during the week are office workers, so for the lobby displays we thought it would make an impactful contrast adding a large piece natural looking greenery into the urban office environment.

As 5 was the key number we decided to have two standing 150cm tall, made out of high grade polystyrene, then covered in artificial greenery grids. The flowers that were 'growing' on the greenery came in the colours of a chosen Spring colour palette; to give a soft sense of fresh, warm beginnings.

Finishing touches

Each of the retailers were given a live plant in a miniature bicycle with signage on small picks sticking out of the plants. The copy 'Enjoy the Ride' coincided with a competition running in the building. These personal touches made to the retailer gifts were very well received and they tied everything together nicely as you walked throughout the precinct.
